幻の光

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Belgium, we offered you, in collaboration with Lumière, the opportunity to choose between two Hirokazu KORE-EDA award-winning classics MABOROSI (1995) and AFTER LIFE (1998). You ultimately chose Maborosi!

Maborshi No Hikari is the magical, visually stunning debut of Japanese filmmaker Kore-Eda Hirokazu (Still Walking, After Life, Air Doll, Hana). After the sudden death of her husband, a young mother tries to give her life new meaning. She moves to a small village to process her grief.

Maborshi No Hikari is the enchanting, mysterious light that lures people into the sea and has an irresistible attraction.

A critically acclaimed meditation on death, memories and loss. – Dave Mestdach, Focus Knack
