1969 was not only a magical year in the West. In Japan, too, the boundaries of freedom were pushed. Among others by director and enfant terrible Koji Wakamatsu, who passionately threw himself into making porn or pink film as they call it in Japan, a bit more cutely. The titles of the films he made are anything but cute. Dark Story of a Japanese Rapist, Ecstasy of the Angels and The Embryo Hunts in Secret are just a few of the works Wakamatsu made during that period.
Dare To Stop Us is a fictional film that focuses on the period 1969-1972 of Wakamatsu’s life. But more than a biographical film about the director’s life, this film wants to show a unique zeitgeist. Dare To Stop Us shows the rock-‘n-roll existence of Wakamatsu and the gang of talented youngsters in his entourage.
