Tohko’s life is picture perfect and in Japan that means a lot. She lives with her husband, daughter and in-laws and has a life that many people envy. But her ideal world is shaken when an ex-partner crosses her path. In this film, director Yukiko Mishima wants to show that the dreams and desires of Japanese women go beyond a house, a garden and a tree. But going against the prevailing norm in society is not easy.

Last year, director Mishima was a guest at the Japan-Square Film Festival to present her film Dear Etranger. A nice detail is that she flew straight from the last day of shooting on the set of Shape Of Red to Ghent. She enjoyed it so much that she stayed in Ghent a few days longer than planned.
