Documentary maker Omiya was one of the first to return to his native region in search of a glimpse of memory and hope. His conversations with the ravaged population continue to resonate long after the film and testify to a raw but warm humanity in a hallucinatory wasteland where you would not expect it. At no point during the film does the maker try to make his mark or express his opinion; he shows straightforwardly what is said and not said and lets the images and people speak for themselves.
