It will take more than soy sauce to put this sushi down!
Let’s start with the synopsis: young lady runs away from home, finds work in the hospitality industry, is bullied by colleagues and guests, and a crazy scientist takes revenge with killer sushi. An average story that we regularly read in the Streekkrant.
Dead Sushi is Attack of the Killer Tomatoes meets Kill Bill, but in 21st century Japanese style, or rather: in Noboru Iguchi’s style, because this culinary martial arts spectacle could only have sprung from the brain of the director who gave us films with resounding titles such as RoboGeisha, Mutant Girls Squad and Zombie Ass.
In keeping with his tradition, we once again get to see an absurd stew of blood, sludge, eroticism, some more sludge, action, and now also hilariously murderous sushi. World organizations like Sushi Rights Watch and the United Nations Sushi Rights Council have already praised this film as a prime example of the global sushi resistance, but also for the excellent martial arts scenes with leading lady Rina Takeda, Japan’s most famous female karateka. If anyone can make killer sushi smell a fart, it’s her!
