The trailer for this completely crazy violence fest should actually say enough: this is completely, but then completely, delightfully off the rails.
Don’t be fooled though: behind this two-hour barrage of gushing blood, caricatural roars and general hilarity there is indeed a story that reads between the lines like a love letter to cinema. Director Sono Sion (including Guilty Of Romance, Japan-Square 2012) has even woven in some autobiographical elements.
The central figure in the story is Hirata, a young director who decides to make a masterpiece together with his film crew, a motley crew that calls itself The Fuck Bombers. The crew has to make a film starring a mafia daughter, in order to convince the mafia boss’s wife that her daughter has become a world-famous movie star. After all, the woman will be released from prison in a few days, where she has spent the past few years for the murder of another mafia boss.
This fantastic plot is of course served to you with the necessary portion of dry humor, slapstick and semi-eroticism, but above all a sky-high level of Kill Bill meets Sono Sion. The result: completely, but then completely, going completely off the rails.
Incidentally, you can do that yourself afterwards at our very first Japan Square party!!!
