Blazing Fists

With over 100 films to his name, Japanese actor and director Takashi Miike established his reputation within the Japanese film industry years ago. He is known for his hard-edged and unique filmmaking style, often featuring explicit depictions of sex and violence. This trend is clearly visible in some of his classics, such as Audition, Ichi the Killer, and One Missed Call. This year, he returns with his new film Blazing Fists, and we are fortunate to present it during our 15th edition.

Blazing Fists tells the story of Ikuto and Ryoma, who meet in a juvenile detention center. When martial artist Mikuru Asakura visits to speak to the young people there, Ikuto is inspired to join Mikuru’s martial arts television program. Ryoma accompanies Ikuto in his training.
What follows is a tale about pursuing dreams, determination, and loyalty. The contrast between the intense fight scenes and the heartwarming friendship between the characters makes it impossible not to cheer them on in their journey to find themselves and each other. Join us on Saturday night as we sit on the edge of our seats, enjoying this energetic film together!
